Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior political figure commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
